"Awwwh, you say that like it's a bad thing!" Leo replied, pouting slightly and then chuckling. One of his arms wound around her waist so that his hand rested lightly on her hip. "You wouldn't be kissing me so sweetly if you really thought I was an asshole, Missy." He nodded his head knowingly, pausing to take a sip from his drink.
After he swallowed, he said, "Nah, they didn't call you that. Well, one've'em might've, but I wan'nt payin' attention." He shrugged. "But you're not. You're just a vampire." He chuckled quietly. "And I'm just a mutt. That make you feel any better, sweetheart?" He rolled his eyes, snorting under his breath a few words. He took another hearty mouthful before glancing back at her. His right ear seemed to twitch for a moment.
"They're talking about us," he murmured thoughtfully. "I can her 'em." He snorted again, this time in distaste. "Okay, so maybe they do think you're a female puppy...that's not very nice of them to think." He shook his head, shrugging. "Told you they were stupid."

Lydia leaned back a little against his arm. She was slightly annoyed with all of this, and slightly bored as well. “At least cliché would infer some sort of romance, or romantic feelings. I believe this to be far from the case.” She let out half of a sigh, it was way too hot in Florida, even at night. “I wouldn’t call it sweet, its clear that I’m better than you at this though.” She was needling him of course, though she did believe herself to be the superior out of the two of them.
“I’m fairly sure they did, they speak very loudly and I have better than average hearing. I don’t really care though, I mean I might not be here much longer, I hope not. Goodness only knows it is way too hot here in Florida.” She had to remind herself that this was not hell by comparison. Hell was a dark cell underground, but there was no time to think about stuff like that now, no space for it.
Lydia could hear what he friends said. “They don’t even know me,” she said in annoyance. “Evidently you’ve told them all about me, and if that is how you feel, well then.” It was so strange how he was the closest thing she had to a friend here. She pulled away from him and headed for the door.

"So?" Leo tapped the rim of the beer against his lip. "Passion can exist without romance in some situations." He winked, giving a cocky grin and then just letting her talk. He snorted. "Nuh uh." And in Leo's eyes, he was the more superior one. He could care less that she was a vampire, that she was British. That meant nothing. She was a woman, and she was an annoying woman at that. He was a werewolf, and a man. So in his head, that meant he was forever much cooler and indeed more superior than her. All of that made very little sense, but since when did anything that Leo think make any sense at all?
He just nodded his head a little. "I--" She continued to speak, so he shut his mouth again. "I haven't said any--" And then she was walking away, and he groaned. He trotted over to his friends, snapping, "Okay, not funny. You were doing that on purpose!"
"Doing what?"
"Calling her names and junk! You knew she could here you, you retards." He crossed his arms as tightly as he could with a beer in hand.
One of them laughed at Leo. "Yeah, and it worked." He high fived his other friend. "C'mon, man, it's supposed to be our time to chill, not your time to try and get laid."
Leo snorted in annoyance. "God!" he grumbled, finishing off his beer. "Well, she's kinda my friend, so, I'm gonna go console her. Later." He shoved the empty beer into one of their hands and darted off after where he'd seen Lydia go.
"Lydia!" he called, "Hey, wait up!"

Lydia, for the most part, cared very little about what Leo thought. Still there was just something about him, well not even. It was merely an attachment formed through the fact that she had drank his blood and saved his life in a way, even if he wouldn’t recognize it. However it was very clear to her that none of this matter in the scheme of things. That she could just walk out of here without a second though and maybe this time she would be lucky enough to never see him again. That would suit her just fine. She realized that she left her book at the table, she didn’t even care right now, she was going to get out of here as fast as she could.
She didn’t believe him, whatever he said she didn’t believe him. She had heard the names he called her, tolerated them, but hearing them from others was starting to get overwhelming. She just could not deal with that right now. She shouldn’t have to deal with it at all.
She was angry, decidedly angry at all of this and that meant it was time to just turn around and walk away as quickly as she possibly could. She was not going to let herself be made a mockery of any more.
She was out of the bar and walking quickly down the street in an instant. That was when she heard a voice call out from behind her. She stopped and turned around, holding out a hand to signal him to stay away.
“Stop! Go away Leo, I don’t want anything more to do with you!”

Leo stood there, opening and closing his mouth in a confused sort of manner. "In case your special little batty ears didn't hear," he said, his tone slightly shrill, "I was defending you in there! They were just sayin' that stuff to piss you off so you'd leave!" He nodded his head. "Really! I swear!"
He walked towards her, a scowl on his face. "Common, it's not your turn to hate my guts, is it? Please, Lydia? I'm sorry they offended you. Please don't go."
He was trying to comprehend why he was acting this way--for you see, all he was saying, all he was doing, appeared to be on impulse. And it was. A small part of him wanted to turn now and stalk back into the bar and drink himself to a gentler state of being. Another two thirds of him, the kinder, sweeter side, could tell that she seemed to be honestly hurt; he wanted to comfort her, apologize. His hormonal half wanted to kiss her. And last but not least, the werewolf deep down inside him wanted to simply tear her face off.
As you can see, Leo's mind was a muddled place, filled with different view points on how to handle this situation. So he chose the option that screamed the loudest in the back of his head; he continued to walk towards her, asking for her forgiveness like a man.

Screw it, screw it all. Lydia just wanted out of all of this. She should have stayed home where it was cool and where there were clean clothes and beds to sleep in. How did she manage to keep finding these hells? How did she manage to keep finding these people? She really did have the worst luck, or something like that. It was about time she managed to get away from all of this. She closed her eyes as she listened to him, just trying to calm herself back down.
“Fine, then they got what they wanted didn’t they? Everything with you is some kind of insult!” Her voice was easily as shrill as his, but still he did not stop as she had told him too, but then again when did he ever listen? She was so tired of all of this, and she just wanted to find some place to sleep for the day. If only life was that easy, but it never was.
Lydia didn’t know of his internal conflicts, but she was not nearly so torn. She had always been of a gentle temperament when she was younger, and this was now twisted with the raw, almost animalistic, survival instinct she had due to life experiences. Combined with that was knowledge of her family, and the leading role she was going to eventually take back home. She took half a step back as he approached but then she stopped. She sighed and looked down for a brief moment before her eyes locked on him again.
Her anger cooled. “Leo, really, I should go anyways. I never intended to see you again after that night at the lake, and it’s clear that by some misery we keep running into each other. It’s time to stop it though. Your instinct is to hate me, I can see that in your eyes. I need to go find somewhere to sleep through the day anyways.” On the bright side, it wasn’t raining.

Leo ran his fingers through his hair sheepishly. "I know, I know," he grumbled unhappily. "Funny, my sister was saying the same thing to me the other day." He rolled his eyes lightly, glancing away from her. When she stopped talking, he didn't say anything, either. Just sort of stood there awkwardly, waiting for her to make the next move. His mind buzzed along happily, and he noted that there seemed to be some sort of movement in the trash on the ground a few feet away.
He stared curiously at it, waiting to see what was there. Nostalgia filled his odd heart for a moment, and he wondered if it were an opossum, or a salamander, or some sort of beaver or some--
A sewer rat came trotting out from beneath the wadded up McDonald's wrapper, a french fry sticking out of its mouth. Leo made a face. Alleyways and city streets were disgusting. The country was so much nicer and cleaner and...well, all around, less intimidating.
Her voice met his ears and he wearily glanced back up at her, expecting another verbal beating. To his surprise, she seemed to be quieter and less-angry. He blinked once. "It's not hard to ignore that, though," he replied with a shrug. "Hey, look, if you want, there's this great thing called an apartment complex." He laughed. "Ever heard of one?" He was teasing; he rolled his eyes. "My apartment's kinda big. Ifya want, you can stay there for tonight. I'll take the couch."
He paused, adding in a quiet murmur, "I kinda owe you...."

There was a moment of silence that did not surprise Lydia. What were two people such as themselves supposed to say? How did they talk to each other? How did one carry on with a person who hated them? It was so confusing. She half smiled when he said that his sister had said the same thing about him. When she briefly met Jaclyn she had a feeling that they might be on the same page about Leo to a point. Only thing was that Jaclyn also loved her brother, and Lydia was less sure how she felt about Leo outside of her annoyance.
Lydia saw the rat and it managed to scamper over her shoe. It didn’t really bother her that much, it was just one and she was used to those. She had seen a lot of them in London and really they were harmless. She drew that foot back as it took a nose dive down into the sewer.
Lydia nearly sighed upon realizing that it really was time for her to go. She had lied, she didn’t need to find somewhere to sleep yet, it was early but all the same it was the best excuse that she had at the moment.
Lydia walked over to Leo and lightly touched the area of his cheek bones, near under his eyes. “You can’t ignore it if it shows here.” One hand dropped and quickly found the area of his heart in his chest, pressing there. “And comes from here.” At least she was fairly certain it was hate. Lydia sighed at his generous offer and would have accepted, except the last thing he said sent a pang of guilt through her. “You don’t owe me anything, I’m sorry I said that to you because it’s such crap.”

Leo's shoulders gently lifted and then fell. "It's just insticts," he mumbled. "I've dealt with them my whole life, that doesn't mean I can't deal with it now. Had cousins who were vampires."He nodded his head slightly. "I'm used to being around them...." He trailed off, watching her. She was so theatrical sometimes.
He frowned down at her, his eyebrows knitting slightly. "I've still been a jerk to you," he replied quietly, running his fingers through his hair. "Look, I already made the offer, and I'm being nice now. Isn't that what you wanted?" He laughed a bit. "If you want, you can stay today slash tonight and leave and then never see my face again for real. Or you can come back whenever. I'm usually not home during the day, I work." He nodded his head. "Construction stuff."
For a moment Leo was looking down at her, and then he was passing her, walking away. He did so in such a fashion that she would catch the unsaid words of, "Follow me if you want."
{Shooooould I make a thread in his apartment now? ^.^}
