Lia elbowed her way through the thick throng of people in the bar. She wasn't supposed to be there--for God's sake, she was only seventeen--but no one seemed to notice. In fact, there seemed to be more under-aged drinkers than over-aged drinkers in the building; either that, or people were just better looking these days.
The teenaged girl was garbed in a similar dress to the one she'd worn a few weeks ago when she'd gone singing for tips. It was white, and sweet looking...until you considered how extremely short it was, and how low it came. It was pretty much a halter-dress; white and sweet in design, but also very racy. Along with the pleats down the front, there was a stylish rip that traveled all the way to the top of her thigh, which, mind you, wasn't very far considering how short the dress was to begin with. To go along with the outfit, she wore her favorite pair of extremely tall boots. These boots were plain and black, with a heel of four inches; they stopped at her knees.
She walked along, the clack of the very high heels hardly audible over the noise in the room. As she walked by a particularly drunk looking man, she saw he was leaving his drink unattended. With a large smile she snatched it up, downed it in one swig, and then set it back. Despite the good amount of backwash, it was refreshing.
By the time she got to the little makeshift stage, her bandmates had assembled themselves. Rusty, her base player, held out her guitar to her. Her electric guitar was stunning; hand made from the finest of woods and other materials. The inlay was of genuine pearl; it sparkled nicely with the white and black of the rest of the instrument. Lia took it from him, and then grabbed his hand, too. He yanked her lightly onto stage, and she smiled. "Thanks, pal."
"We're gonna kick ass tonight," Rusty chuckled, beaming at her. There were two other bands waiting to play; it was sort of a friendly competition between the three. Blackheart Ryder (Lia's band) Jump!, and Forgotten Destiny.
"Hell yeah!" She giggled, trotting dutifully to her spot at the mike. "HELLO SIMBOL!" she said loudly, getting everybody's attention.
There was a small amount of clapping, but mostly laughter and jeers. Such a tiny, oddly clad girl was going to sing? She looked harmless to them, even with her dark and eccentric makeup. Along with the claps and chortles came a few "boos": the rival immature bands, she guessed.
"Tonight, we're not gonna play an original for ya just yet, but something one of my favorite bands of all time wrote. Goes a little something this."
She began to strum, and immediately a bunch off wild cheers whooped through the building. She lifted her head, grinning broadly and winking. Her foot started to tap as the base kicked in, along with the drums. Not bothering to change the lyrics to make them, "gender appropriate," she began to belt out the classic:
"She was a fast machine,
She kept her motor clean.
She was the best damn woman I had ever seen.
She had the sightless eyes,
Telling me no lies
Knockin' me out with those American thighs.
Taking more than her share,
Had me fighting for air.
She told me to come, but I was already there.
'Cause the walls start shaking,
The earth was quaking!
My mind was aching
And we were making it and you--
Shook me all night long!"
She had chosen this song on purpose; partially because it was her favorite song, and partially because really, who could deny the love of AC/DC? While she couldn't mimic the song exactly, her voice was still an amazing touch.
