//PENN matthew BEIME//
Penn sat quietly, scribbling absentmindedly on a piece of notebook paper. He sat on the ledge of the fountain in the middle of wilson park as he scribbled. His blue eyes searced the paper with a noticeable look of trying to find something. Eyes showing with disappointement, he crumpled up the piece of paper and set it by his side, next to a collection of other crumpled papers.
Penn looked up, the end of his mouth twitching silently, as if looking around him seemed disappointing. But he quickly shook his head and smiled superficially, although most people would not be able to tell. Realizing the growl of his stomach, he zeroed in on all the humans around him; there weren't many, but he could smell a few.
His eyes landed on a human blond girl, reading a book on a bench. She pushed her glasses up her nose with her index finger, then sat still again. Penn's mouth twitched with a surge of desperation; he was so hungry. He walked over to her. His tactic; befriend them (superficially of course), get them over to his house, and then it'd be easy prey from there. He didn't kill humans that much anymore; trying to go vegitarian, well, for a vampire. He mostly killed deer these days.
"Hello," Penn said with a smile as he reached the girl.
The blonde girl looked up with a bored look on her face. Penn guessed she didn't know. "Hello," the girl repeated back to him, a certain coldness in her voice.
What a jerk off Penn thought. "Mhm. Well, I'm Penn," he said, sticking out his hand for her to shake it. "Its a real delight to meet you."
The girl stifled a smile. "Yeah. I'm Jane." She took his hand and shook it daintily.
Smiling, Penn put his hand back to his side. He took a seat next to her. "Ah, 'Pride and Prejudice'. As chic as the book may seem, it's one of my favorites."
"Oh," she replied cooly. Penn could tell she was hiding her feelings; she liked him.
"What part are you at?" He asked her, Penn's eyebrow raised.
"Mmm. Well, if you must know, they're kissing." She said, also raising her eyebrow.
Way to be 'smooth' about that one, Jane Penn thought. "Oh? Are you suggesting something?"
"Am I?" the girl flirted.
I seriously just met her. Penn thought, disgusted. "Why don't we make it a date to discuss this at dinner? Tomorrow at eight?" Penn asked her flirtatiously.
"Totally," the girl said. "But wear something nicer."
Penn waited for her to laugh or smile, showing him it was a joke, but she was serious. Penn wouldn't feel badly about her fate.
Smiling, Penn got up, leaving her wanting more. Sometimes he didn't like the fact that he was a vampire. It bothered him that he had to drink the blood of a human; it seemed wrong to him. But he had held off of humans for five months now, and he really wanted it. He deserved it, right? Sitting down, Penn resumed his scribbling once more.
