FOR XHEVAHIRE
Riley swaggered into the pub late that night, or early in the morning. He didn't wear a watch so he'd kind of lost track of time. He was also underage, but had a wicked awesome fake ID guy that had gotten his laminated and everything. He drank at home every once in awhile but had only been into a pub using his shiny new ID a few times. He noticed a girl on the floor who was scrubbing the dirt away. It kind of made him have a Le Mis deja-vu moment. Great, now Castle on a Cloud was stuck in his head. He frowned and tried to shake it out with no apparent success.
He sat down at one of the bar stools and waited for someone to pop out from behind the counter to take his order. He'd intentionally not shaved this morning so that he looked older with a little bit of scruff on his face. He didn't think that it looked too bad on him, either.

Fuck this. It's for the money, but - fuck this.
She cursed to herself in her head, hating herself for taking this job. She didn't even like to drink, so why did she work at a bar? Scrubbing the floors and washing the tables, wasn't this just the life? She made a disgusted face, rubbing harder on the dirty wooden floors with her damp rag. She might not have liked this job, but if she didn't do good with it, her boss would certainly kick her out. Which meant no more making money, which meant no way to pay the rent, which meant no where to live, which meant, for her, insanity.
She glanced up at the door swung open, narrowing her eyes at the older looking man that just walked in. Dropping her towel into the orange bucket beside her and standing him, she dusted off her black sweater dress - usually it wouldn't have been her first choice of clothing, but that was the uniform for female workers here. With a heavy sigh, she stepped over to the man, placing one hand on the counter beside him to get his attention. "We're closing, sir," she informed him, glancing at her watch.

Woah. Closing time? He must have taken more time than he'd thought to get here. Well . . . he had kind of stalled. If he wanted to admit it to himself, he didn't really want to come her tonight. All of his friends had been busy and he had been bored so he'd agreed to himself that he would come here. "Okay, I'll leave. Sorry," he shrugged soberly and started back towards the door with his hands in his pockets.
He pushed the door open enough so that he could walk through it. He felt the air conditioning abruptly stop being him as he let the door go and it swung back into place. He put the hand that had opened the door back in his pocket and was on his way back to his apartment.

The day would end just like that. The last customer would leave, she would finish cleaning the floors, and then would come Alec. A beating today, probably. He had already drunk from her last night; he probably wouldn't bother to do it again today. With a heavy sigh, she turned away from the door, forgetting to wish the man a good night like she should have done. Her eyes traveled around the room, landing on the black lump on the counter. Squinting, she walked over, grabbing the wallet and then glancing out the door.
She darted towards the entrance, hoping he hadn't gone far. Of course, she could always take the money... no, she wouldn't. "Sir!" she called out, relief flooding her when she realized he was still in sight. She jogged up to him, slowin as she neared him and holding out the wallet. "You forgot this," she breathed, looking him up and down. She tugged on a strand of her hair, pulled to the side to reveal the scar on her neck from last night. Shit.

The vampire bite that was so obvious on her neck would have been missed by him if he were an ordinary human, but he wasn't. He was a moonstepper. Half-werewolf and half-rizaki mixture with probably better senses than either of them. He got the best of both worlds, really. His eyes zoomed in on the bite and with a stunned expression, lifted his eyes to hers. He was now noticing just how beat up this human looked. A vampire had definitely been abusing her. A boyfriend maybe? "Thanks," he muttered, taking the wallet back. He felt bad for her, she looked pretty... for a human. No wonder this vampire was taking an interest in her.
He was mentally figuring out a way to get her away from this guy. Permanently. Nobody deserved to be treated like that. Especially not humans, with their short lives. They all deserved to be happy, and he would make sure that this girl got that chance. "Hey um... can you give me the number of your supervisor?" Maybe he could take it up with whoever he or she was. Maybe they would care enough to do something. If not, then he would take matters into his own four paws.

Xhevahire froze, eyeing the man with innocent curiosity as she responded. "I, um -" she began, cutting herself off before she could say anything stupid. "I don't think that..." she stopped again, shaking her head. Folding her arms across her chest and biting her lip, she looked up at the guy. "Why do you need it?" she questioned him, raising an eyebrow and then casting a quick glance back at the bar. "I should go now," she added before he had a chance to reply. "If I'm not back soon, my boss will kill me." With a frown, she turned quickly on her heel in an attempt to avoid any further conversation.

Riley make up a quick excuse to why he needed the number, and gently stopped her by taking hold of her arm. "Wait. Do you mind giving me the number first, please? It will only take a second, I promise. I just need it because he and my boss are business associates." Sure, they kind of were in a way. In the way that both of them were mythical creatures. He had figured out who had been doing this to her, now and he realized that her boss wouldn't care a wink about what was happening to her, because he was doing it himself.
He smiled at her as he spoke, trying not to look menacing in any way. He was only trying to help her, after all. Maybe if he could, he would call some backup after she went into the pub again and he could help take this guy out.

"Um..." Xhevahire began with a frown, shaking her head. "I don't think Alec would like it very much if I gave his number out to a random stranger." She raised her eyebrows at him, though her eyes narrowed as she saw what the guy was really looking at. Her neck? The bruises? She lowered her gaze, biting her lip.
It was obvious that this guy was something other than your ordinary human, like she had originally thought him to be. Which meant... he could see the scars, the cuts, the bruises. "I know what you're trying to do," she hissed bitterly, knowing her was only trying to help her, though not really appreciating it. "And I'm going to ask you politely to stop and just stay out of it." No, it wasn't very polite, but that didn't matter. With a heavy sigh, she shook her arm out of his grasp and began the walk back to the bar.

Riley followed her, keeping up stride. "You don't deserve what he does to you. So why do you let him do it?" he hissed, clenching his jaw. He didn't grab her arm again, because he didn't want to hurt her, but he would be damned if he let her walk back into that pub only to be abused, bitten, or God only knew what else. She was a human, and she couldn't help what he did to her if she needed that job, but he could do something. He could get her out of there.
He opened the door of the pub while silently calling some moonsteppers for help with his scent. He held the door open for her with a smirk before letting it swing shut. He sat back on that same bar stool and waited for the bastard to show his face.

Wow. She hadn't expected him to figure it all out so quickly. She wasn't going to let that bother her, though. "Listen," she muttered as they reached the door. "It's none of your fuckin' business. Stay out of it." With a shake of her head, she followed him inside, wondering why she let him come back in anyway. What was he going to do - attempt to hold a nice conversation with the vampire that practically controlled her life? Try to fight him? No way that was going to hend well.
The sound of footsteps coming from the hallway made her lift her head curiously. She knew who it was, and unfortunately, she was right. "Alec," she greeted stiffly as he entered the room, eyeing the two carefully. Slinging an arm around her shoulder and pulling her closer to his warm body, he nodded in reply, glancing at the other boy. "Who's this? Xi, you know that we're closed now," he spoke bitterly, narrowing his eyes. He was obviously very demanding when it came to getting people out of the bar. That's when he had his alone time with Xhevhire.

Xhevahire watched as the men entered the building, all looking equally menacing. How could this all have happened so quickly? She knew they could easily take down Alec - and hey, that might have been a good thing. But she didn't want that to happen. No, even though he hurt her, she had this urge to protect him. Maybe it was because he threatened to kill her if she didn't, although that was a whole different story.
"Don't hurt him," she growled, staring with narrowed eyes at the guy she had originally talked to. She stepped in front of Alec to block their path, though was immediately thrown to the ground by strong arms and crashed against the counter, a few of the glasses on top breaking. "Shut up, you whore," Alec hissed, casting her a glare and then turning back towards the werewolves. "I can take 'em myself." He crossed his arms over his chest, knowing what they were here for and not particularly liking it.

Riley was now completely in his moonstepper form, along with the rest of his bunch. He growled and got ready to pounce, signaling the rest of them to do the same. They did and within second, they were attacking the vampire man. They jumped on his, ripping at his clothes and biting at his ankles. Ha, take that you evil bastard! Riley thought while he scratched at the mans back, tearing through his shirt with ease.
He felt his feral side coming out just then. He usually tried to keep it under control, but it felt good to let it run wild on this guy. He felt like he was finally himself for once. He'd only gone feral once or twice before, both by accident. Now he found himself letting it take control of him, not caring that it did.

"Don't!" Xhevahire called out, shaking her head because she knew it was no use. They wouldn't hear her, and if they did, it's not like they would stop. If she dove in to try to help Alec, she would be torn to shreds, whether accidentally or on purpose. With one more glance at the chaos erupting in the bar, she stood up, frowning as she dove out through the back door. At this point, she didn't even care about Alec. She just wanted to get out, to get away from all of this. She sunk down against the wall on the outside of the pub, flinching as the sound of the fight filled her ears.

Somewhere in the dog part of him, he smelled a scared human. He'd forgotten about the girl. God, she must be terrified! He motioned for the rest of them to finish the job without killing the vampire, and transformed back into his human self. He cleaned his face and hands off to make sure there was no blood on him, and got up and walked towards her. He held out his hand so that he would be able to pull her up from the floor. "Here," he said quietly, comfortingly, "I think it's time we got you out of here. Don't you agree?"
